100% Albarossa from our vineyards, a variety of Piedmontese grapes, a cross of Chatus (Nebbiolo Dronfield) with Barbera discovered in 1938 by prof. Dalmasso of Turin in search of new varieties that combined the elegance and color of Nebbiolo with the freshness and richness of Barbera. With the Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC) it has become more widespread and recognized in the last ten years. The Albarossa grape is one of the indigenous red grapes of the Piedmont region, officially registered since 1977. Its total surface area nationally amounts to only 80 ha. The vinification takes place in two phases; a cold maceration period of 5 to 10 days (12 to 15 ° C) followed by an alcoholic fermentation with selected yeasts. This second phase lasts about two weeks at controlled temperatures with manual pigeage which ensures a delicate extraction of the desirable tannins to ensure the structure associated with Albarossa. After fermentation, the wine is placed in French oak barrels in the cellar for 12 months kept for the whole winter at a controlled temperature of 5 ° C. The proportion of new barriques varies according to the year. The color is dark, intense, and there is a complex nose that is also easy to approach.
